Off the Beaten Track?

Did you ever have one of those days, you know, when you wake up inthe morning and you know, you just know its going to be a beautiful day?

Z0085611

Mom and I headed out to Avon Valley Country Park. Its a wild life haven I have been visiting and capturing since I moved here 3 Summers ago.

Z0085612

Somewhere I had got to know really well, or so I thought!

Z0085615

Familiar avenues, familiar old trees that have come to feel like old friends you know so well.

Z0085617
Z0085615Z0085619

Beautiful sky's that take your breath away?

Z0085650

Vistas that explode with colour.

Z0085618

And water, water you just have to love.

Z0085640Z0085638

Some spots were created for the photographer.

Z0085636

I could set up camp here and just shoot this view for the rest of my life.

Z0085636

Then just when you think you found your place your comfort zone.

It all changes!

Just a little something, in this case a small bridge across a deep ditch, through the trees and ...................................................?

Z0085633

A whole new world opens up a new perspective on the world you were so comfortable with so familiar you took it totally for granted.

Z0085620
Z0085622

A new angle to look at what you had always known but just could not see.

Z0085623

New vistas new opportunities to experience the beauty of our world from a new point.

and

Finally the thing I love about the natural world the best things come in the smallet packages.

Z0085661

Actually its funny, If you think about it. It is funny how nature mirrors life, you think you know something so well, you take it for granted, then when you step back you find it was not what you thought it was!

A sobering experience!

Have a wonderful day and may your God go with you;)

  1. Great post, Baz. I loved all your photos. I understand what you're saying here. Seeing old familiar places in new and different ways is something I always try to do wherever possible. While many places can feel comfortable, like old friends, I do start to want new places to see and photograph, if I can't put some variety into them.

Excellent dragonfly shot. Was trying to get one yesterday, but they just would not settle.

  4. Wonderful blog and photos. Your feeling about this place is similar to our with Pole Canyon Ranch where we go ride some and also the east side of the Valle Vidal. Isn't it nice to find a new adventure in a familiar place?

  7. I know exactly what you mean , about bits of the landscape being like old friends........That's the way I feel about the cliffs and sea around where I live. I really like your photos of reflections in water, is a favourite subject of mine. I think a decent camera, is now on top of my wish list.

  12. Well Baz; as always your photos are stunning. i especially liked the first lot but then you know how I feel about the forest. What really did strike me was the first sky photo because in the cloud formation I saw a dragonfly, then to see your last phot WAS a dragonfly struck me as being special.
